Who Can Succeed at Selling IconXs? The honest answer is anyone can sell IconXs, but not everyone will succeed at the same level. Some people are better sales people than others. It’s that simple! There are however a number of things that the most successful sales people and IconXs ISRs will have in common.
Personality. People who succeed at sales are very personable. They talk and feel very comfortable about what they are talking about. If you are the kind of person who is comfortable walking into a place, talking the talk, you are likely a great candidate for IconXs.
Knowing The Product. In our case the more you understand about the Internet and the more you knowledge yourself about search engines the better chances of success you’ll have as an IconXs ISR. Knowledge of IconXs and the Internet may be learned and IconXs promises to help do our part to make every ISR a success. You however must take it upon yourself to understand our competition and the problems they have as well as all the benefits of using IconXs. The value of IconXs is built in, but you’ll need to be able to explain it to your potential customers. The beautiful thing is, “Seeing is Believing” and “IconXs is Love at First Sight”. IconXs is strong enough to often sell itself by showing people the site or the booklet supplied to each ISR.
Knowing Your Market. There are several parts to this section. The more you know of the competition within your market as well as what companies are paying for their current forms of advertising within that market, the more success you’ll have. IconXs is likely priced under any current forms of advertising offered in your market. You need to know how much the local newspapers, TV, radio, signage companies, flyers and brochures, mailings, buses, internet sites and so on are charging companies to advertise in your area. You’d be shocked to hear how much companies spend on advertising. This also includes knowing the competitors of the companies you are visiting.
Being Known. It can’t hurt if you are known in your area. If you have lived there all your life, many of the local business people will already know you so you can get in the door easier. This isn’t a requirement at all, just something that may help.
Your Current/Past Experience. Maybe you are or have worked for a marketing agency, a web site developer, the local newspaper or in sales elsewhere, and know a lot of the current business people. People who belong to large local advertising agencies or clubs have contacts of business people that can help you get the ball rolling in your area. Any companies that pay in their category will rotate in front of a non paying site, so it is all about position. Never worry if a customer wants their site added for free, they are very valuable to us. these same customers help build out your local search engine and possible down the road they will decide they want all the perks paying customers get, which are many, and decide to buy their space. Paying customers do get descriptions, emails, phones, faxes, maps, addresses, mouse roll over effects and the very important tag words all added to their logo making them appear nicer and found more in searches. Non paying customers get their logo added but none of the other perks. You know your town best, so we want you to help us build it the way it is, the way the locals know it to be.
